HEADACHES AND MIGRAINES

Headaches are a common complaint for many children and adolescents.

While missing meals, certain food sensitivities, dehydration, or tiredness can often trigger headaches, it’s also important to consider physical causes.

Tension headaches, for example, can result from tight muscles in the head and neck. This tension might come from stress, fatigue, or poor posture, and can feel like a dull ache or pressure around the neck, back of the head, or forehead.

Migraines are a more intense type of headache, often accompanied by visual disturbances, nausea, or vomiting.

Dr Kirsty (osteopath) carefully assesses and treats the muscles and structures that might be contributing to your child’s headaches. However, if headaches are paired with symptoms like fever, unusual drowsiness, or other concerning signs, we’ll refer you to a doctor to ensure there are no serious underlying conditions.
